‘Man-Killer’ MacArthur is No Hero!

To mark the 58th anniversary of the Korean War, the North Korean regime’s rigidly-controlled media has published this ‘commentary’ lashing out the publication of a new book being distributed to South Korean students praising the United States and General Douglas MacArthur for saving their nation from communist domination.

Quoting from the Rodong Sinmun, which could be regarded as Kim Jong-il’s family newspaper, the commentary says in part:

“This is part of the sinister plot by pro-U.S. conservative forces to quell the spirit of independence and resistance to the United States, which is growing ever-stronger among adults and young people in south Korea.’

Pyongyang: In Seoul, the “Reservists’ Association,” an ultra-right-wing group in south Korea, recently published and distributed copies of an anti-communist comic book called Proper Understanding of June 25 War [actually, the book is called Spreading Correct Knowledge of the Korean War] not only to primary, middle and high school students but to kindergarteners as well, stirring up great public furor.

Commenting on this on Tuesday, the Rodong Sinmun calls the comic book “extremely reactionary,” given that it describes man-killer MacArthur as a “benefactor” and “hero,” although he inflicted immeasurable misfortune and disaster upon the Korean nation. It also claimed that any call for a withdrawal of U.S. forces from the south Korea would be the same as being “taken in by the north’s strategy.”

What is even more intolerable is that the author of the book described the April 3 People’s Uprising on Jeju Island and the Ryosu Resistance – the justified resistance movement of national salvation by the south Korean people – as “atrocities,” by linking them to the north.

I am about as far as you can get from being a MacArthur fan (I think he should have been court martialed 3 or 4 times) but I agree this idiotic propoganda by the North goes way too far.

  2. Jammer says:

He absolutely saved South Korea at Inchon and he absolutely deserved to be fired and probably court martialed for expanding the war in direct disregard for his President's orders.

  3. Patrick E says:

Well not to turn this into a Mac bashing but he deserved to be court martialed as far back as 32
