I am glad Stephen Curry and his Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship last night. I am not a LeBron James hater but I am no fan of his either. Beyond the decision, the few years in South Beach with the Miami Heat, and the re-decision to return to Cleveland, there is the constant (annoying) comparisons between him and Michael Jordan which is like comparing apples to oranges. Both are excellent players but they played in different eras of the NBA. I can not see LeBron going through the hard fouls of the 1990 Bad Boy Detroit Pistons or even the aging Boston Celtics of late 1980s.
When the Warriors and Cavaliers won the western and eastern conference crowns respectively, there was a clear difference in the attitude and mindset of the two leaders of these squads, Stephen Curry and LeBron James.
Curry, in the 1st picture, has the public image of a doting father in his post-game appearance with his daughter Riley. James, in the 2nd picture is seen celebrating with his teammates in a hot-tub popping bottles of champagne.
I’m not saying LeBron should not have celebrated with his teammates. I am saying in a world where style trumps substance especially in sports; we need more young men like Stephen Curry to set a positive example of how to use skill, talent, humility and hard work to achieve your dreams!
