The two candidates, Clinton and Obama, are correct. We shouldn't drill anywhere in sensitive ecological regions. There is another type of drilling we should be doing. That is geothermal. Iceland powers half it's energy needs with geothermal technology, nearly the other half with hydro and only imports fossil fuels for transportation. With the development of hydrogen-fueled cars even that wouldn't be necessary. Steam generation from geothermal vents and bore holes is simply, easy, safe and clean.

BigOil has suppressed this little-talked about green form of energy for decades. It is so easy and reliable that the type of artificial price manipulation that goes on with hard-to-refine and obtain crude oil is not anywhere near as easy. So it isn't a viable alternative. Get it?

Nuclear is out of the question. When we have ample hydro, geothermal and solar regions to produce energy in the US, courting a disasterous and forever-polluting (see disposal of nuclear waste) nuclear power is as asinine as saying oil/ethanol is our only energy recourse.

It's time to take the crazy/greedy people out of making energy policies. It actually was time 30 years ago and earlier but better late than never.
