Life imitates art. You can’t exactly say it’s a case of literally following the Yellow Brick Road, but it did involve a yellow stream.
In Texas, a City Councilman took a bathroom break — and forgot that his mic was still on.
And so a normally boring City Council discussion was livened up by the sound of liquid flowing and, eventually, a loud flush. CBS Houston:
Rachael Jonrowe, mayor pro tem for Georgetown, Texas, was speaking during a council meeting about deadly infectious diseases when everyone in the room could hear someone going to the bathroom.
It turns out a councilman forgot to turn off his microphone.
Shortly before Jonrowe begins speaking, the council member can be seen getting up and leaving the room.
Jonrowe starts laughing when the councilman begins relieving himself and then totally loses it when he flushes.
A fellow council member appears to alert his colleague to the incident after he returns to his seat.
But is it bad P.R.?
The councilman can now run for re-election with the slogan: I’m Number One.
Watch (and listen) for yourself:
And, yes, the alert reporter immediately grasped what any of us comedy fans will say: Leslie Nielsen did this scene in The Naked Gun more than 20 years ago:
