I am greatly saddened by the news of Tim Russet 's passing today. This has struck home to me as I am Buffalo born and raised , my husband John Odozynski, who i lost in the same way, a sudden heart attack,just 4 yrs. ago, attended Canisius High School Class of '64 ,and was a member of the New York Bar. We too spent Sunday morning listening to Tim Russert. I especially want to send my thoughts and prayers to Mr. Russert's son, Luke. My son Scott, knows some of what you are feeling . that too dear kritt, that preparedness... I often thought that the Actor's Studio fellow with his tall stack of blue index cards for questioning background, lives and thoughts of famous actors had borrowed from Tim. Tim was a reader Kritt, I think he had true curiousity about 'story.' That may be why he prepared so. He had innate respect for the storyline. I knew Tim from our shared appearances at Literacy benefits in NY. If I can get it together, here in a while, I'll try to write a short reminisce.

A lot of us are sitting here this afternoon thinking that such 'a young guy' was one of the few 'old school' elders left from whichever side of the tribe, along with Bob Scheiffer and a very few other interviewer-journalists.

It will be interesting kritt, to see how/who takes up the very slack slack. I imagine there are, as you and I speak, plenty of persons hoping they might fit the shoes. Like Cinderella, there's probably only one who fits, for realies.

He is simply irreplaceable– a standout guy and a giant in his field. I Loved how prepared he always was to cut through the bull on MTP, and he never fielded softballs to squirming politicians. He exemplified what a true journalist should strive for.

Dear PaulSilver. Yes, very missed like a big tree taken out. We were just talking here at TMV behind the scenes about who? who can be his equal. A couple names came up. With a lot of 'buts.' I know RememberNovember, geez, I know. Father's day. And Tim supported the Sisters (the nuns) who taught him long ago; he was Irish Catholic and didnt forget the nuns who are elderly now. You used a good word, integrity. Joe (gandelman) and I were talking just a few minutes ago about how that becomes more and more seemingly rare in news broadcast, to everyone's detriment, that is, if we're going to keep calling it journalism

Christoofar, it is a sudden shock when men who are still so young in these times when men often love long and live long… you're right. THis also sets off in a lot of just regular guys of mid-age, Am I ok, is my body doing alright? A tiny blessing that might come from a prominent person like TIm leaving us… that some men will go see the doc about that troubling pain or ping or clutch… Sad, regardless, you're right. “What? Tim Russert can't die,' is how a lot of people feel right now.

Boy will he be missed!
He was one of the few for whom I would not hit the mute button when he came on.
I recorded and looked forward to his Saturday interview show with sustained discussion of issues.
I hope his replacement builds on the standards he tried to set.
