There is still an awful amount of hate, racism and anti-Muslim feelings out there (even though Obama was raised a Christian and is now a Christian). I think much of that is a fear of the unknown.

In order to continue to advance civil rights for all (not just African Americans, but for all other minorities that are discriminated against) America needs to learn to deal with its changing identity. If America wants to succeed in a world in which other countries are gaining more power and influence, Americans need to not only respect different groups of people but learn how to effectively deal with them. One significant way to do this is by electing a fully capable leader, such as Obama, who can show that other groups of people can govern equally well, not just old white men.

This is exactly why someone who is trying to decide whether to vote for McCain or Obama (assuming that person feels that each candidate can do the job equally well, though with a different emphasis) should vote for Obama. If America wants to continue to be a power in the world, then Americans need to learn how to play well with others, not just people who look and think like them. An Obama presidency offers Americans a chance to overcome this fear of others.

Now if you believe McCain would make the better president and his platform agrees with yours, then please vote for McCain. There's nothing to stop you and that's what makes this country so great- our ability to choose a leader.

The wingnut right should be forced to reconcile with the story of McCain's divorce from his first wife. Especially if they keep up the secret Muslim, secret terrorist, anti-American bullcrap.
