Obama blundered by bringing up the toughest nut to crack: Jerusalem, especially in front of AIPAC (and inevitably, the world). As it was clarified by his adviser, a Hassidic Jew, his position seems good. It is not an appropriate role for the US to impose a solution,; it's up to the people of the region to find one.

AIPAC, like all disproportionaly) funded lobbies presents a problem, because it invites our meddling in Israel's internal political affairs. if we could manage some serious lobby reforms, it might help here, too.
