Now that he has said this (and we've observed this before if Holly says it, to name one example), he can expect the truly-far-right-style Samuel Francis treatment.

I don't know what inner demons drive Lieberman to be the kind of politician he is, so I reserve judgment on him as a human being.
As a public figure, though, he has becone what I teach my grandchildren not to be: a user.
It seems pretty clear to me that he would jump ship again if either McCain or the GOP strayed an inch from his fanatical policy obsessons.

Lieberman represents mostly himself. He alligned with Independents and got a lot of help from the GOP to win back his Senate seat. He's used his position to get the maximum amount of power possible- even threatening to caucus with the Republicans after promising his constituents to caucus with the Democrats if they reelected him. He's an opportunist.

Joe Lieberman the last time I looked or when I studied civics in 9th grade represents the people of his home state. He does not represent the Democrats.

He is affiliated with democrats. He sides with democrats but he represents his home state and the people that voted for him.

This continues to be the very reason why this nation will never have a third party. The two parties have so ingrained themselves into the mindset of Americans that we no longer think about the country unless its from a political persepective of Democrat or Republican.

I am beginning to understand the mindset of the states rights, libertarians who see things the way it was intended to be. Not the Way Democrats or Republicans have convinced us they should be.

no sale, Slamfu. The DNC and many voters did not support Joe because he no longer supports the party's platform. And they didn't throw him to the wolves, they had a mutually beneficial compromise, in which he got to be a majority member of Committees and vote with the minority, while they got to BE the majority party.

Now what was that final spread again between ol' Joe and the darling candidate of the left….10 points? Does he really need to care what the darlings think of him now or next year?

As long as the D's don't get 60 seats (I suspect a pretty long shot), he's certainly no worse off.
