The suggestion by Mrs Clinton, which was sure to be treated as presumptuous by the victorious Mr Obama …

Just over a year ago few in the US had heard of Barack Obama.

“Now this first-term Senator is on the brink of becoming the first African-American presidential nominee. … Senator Obama’s defeat of Hillary Clinton is one of the biggest upsets in modern political history.
