Furthermore, the scandal seems to only involve Bush administration folks, not elected congressman/women. I think if the Dems wanted political theater for Nov. then they would focus on other scandals that could gain them something. I don't think the Plame/Wilson would credibly advance the cause of “all Republicans are the same”. Particularly if Obama wants to be bipartisan.

I posted a comment or two in the last couple of days about the schism between Obama's goals and the goals of the Dem. Congress. It will be one of Obama's challenges for Obama to bring the Dems into line and pursue his agenda. If the House Dems are approaching this scandal as a way of grouping all Republicans together and political theater, then this is a perfect example of congress's goals being at odds with Obama's (which would only hurt the Dem Party).

As much as I don't like the GOP falling into line behind virtually every single action the Bush administration did, there is nonetheless a time for party unity, which the GOP does hands down better than the Dems, and a time to speak up, which has been missing from the Republican leaders under Bush.

I support the Plame/Wilson investigation to find out what happened, but I do not support it as “payback” in general to the GOP.

I always wondered if Fitz was ordered to back off of Rove by AG Gonzales. Everyone in the media was predicting his indictment.

McClellan doesn't know that much, however– they'd have to get Rove to talk.
