A Little Perspective, Please

bonita_springs_dog_beach.jpg

Which of these three items is the most important and might derail a presidential campaign?

* Bill Clinton continuing to chase anything in a skirt, according to a new Vanity Fair story.

* Michele Obama using the word “whitey” in unknown context, according to rumors.

* John McCain calling his wife a four-letter word for her vagina, according to first-hand accounts.

And what does your choice say about the state of political discourse in America?

Thanks, Shaun. A good reminder for all of us.

    You expect perspective in politics?

    I appreciated the effort, though.

very easy to confuse "Why'd he" with "Whitey" - especially if you are looking to hear ghosts.
  • It's a trick question, isn't it? I'm supposed to choose based on who I'd like to spend a day at the water park with. (Grab a hat, Mr. McCain!)

It ain't the bleedin' LIncoln-Douglas debates. I knew this would happen when Jackson was elected president.

    Shaun, perspective, miracle.

I am curious if perspective will materialize after next Inauguration Day.

"It ain't the bleedin' LIncoln-Douglas debates"

Modern debates are debased. And if you think the trying-hard-never-to-slip Presidential debates are lousy, have you ever observed a debate in a contest for a much smaller government position (state or local)?

The one good debate I saw was in 2000 with the VP candidates, the "job interview" debate. I felt the way others did, some of whom were quoted on the air: "The wrong two guys are running for the Presidency." (I.e., the two VP guys should have been the ones running, from how they appeared and spoke in the "job interview" debate.)
