I don't believe for a moment that Sully is really uncertain in his heart; he's gonna find a good reason to support Obama. Like most elites, he's smart enough to rationalize (lie to himself) the decision he wants.

Both somewhat big-spending McCain and vaster spending Obama are lousy on the economy -- but it's also the important area where the President has the least real effect. Congress is far more important.

On the war, I can believe Obama will make noise that the surge is working (so Sully can rationalize!), while still wanting a "better" withdrawal than Bush-McCain. Blah.

On abortion, Obama is a far left pro-partial birth abortionist, and the liberal judges he will choose will hurt America for another Roe generation. The culture wars will only get worse -- this is the opposite of the (false) Unity Obama claims to support.

But he sure does speak well!

Neocon, good point about the Dems believing that America wants to suddenly be progressive. That happened with Bush when he won the 2004 election when he talked about his huge amount "political capital" and how Americans validated "his way". Forget that Bush turned the citizens of the country against each other and made the 2004 election mostly about American's safety.

I also think that if Obama becomes president there will be some friction between the WH (Obama) and congress because Obama is running on change and congress wants to relish its newfound power without really following Obama.

If the Dems do not want to lose seats on congress in 2010 or 2012, then they would do well to tread softly and really try to govern this country for the people and not corporations.

You are right it will be fun to watch. But a lot of Americans (including me) will want to pull our hair out at times with frustration...

Barak Obama has style and grace and a demeanor about him that is attractive in an atmosphere that has been poisoned by both sides. The very side championing Barak Obama are the ones who have written, spoke and exuded vitriol. No less so then the far right who have written, spoke and exuded vitriol of their own.

Barak Obama is the ANTI......whatever. God, Bush, GOP, CONSERVATIVE.....he is the anti vote.

The mistake will be that the crushing defeat that the GOP faces this fall will be considered a mandate on their policies when they really have not run on policy. This site and other sites have not talked about the issues. Health care, etc. because in truth Obama and Hillary are mirrors of each other on the issues.

So when the crushing defeat comes the Democrats will Waltz into the White House confident that all of America embraces their far left social agenda and they do not. I do not know how many people I have talked to that do not favor much of what the democrats stand for but are going to vote out them evil bastards (GOP) because......... it can be summed up in they "LIED" "Took us to war."

The fact that the Democrats will waltz into power with the deluded idea that All of America wants to suddenly be progressive will be their huge mistake. It will be their Pearl Harbor. Their Iraq. Their Munich. Their "fill in the blank here."

But it will be fun to watch. I project that the Democrats will not only fail miserably but that in fact they will Implode with such a bang that in 2010 we will be talking about the demise of the DNC.
