The PBS News Hour is like an oasis of sanity. Though they have controversial guestis, interviews are never allowed to become a shouting match.

Of course, this kind of news can only cover headline topics.
What is still missing is deeper coverage of subjects that have to wait for full length documantaries to find them. and expose them.

I happily watch NewHour for 60 minutes without interruptions each night, and find the relatively extended discussions captivating. Same with most of the PBS shows and CSPAN Booknotes.

The failure to call an interviewee on lies is what irritates me about quite a few news reports and interviews.

And of course with the attractiveness coupled with the sound bites of Obama's campaign, and a sputtering pale second-rate effort by Clinton, we've seen with the Dems this year a good deal of info-tainment “American Idol Great Presidential Race” spectacle this year.

Aside from the more substantial events that should happen at the Dem convention this year, I wonder if the Dems will try to slicken up that circus once they realize they likely will have a real audience this time. No more calliope, but a synthesizer with visual special effects, for starters…

Info-tainment fot the ever-more-childish market. Wonderful. What happens when the Dems inject their entitlement-vote-buying-feel-good-appeals with extra cutesy info-tainment slickness? Maybe Superdestroyer's one-party-USA nightmare would come that much closer toward true.
