I'll bet Hillary is somewhere saying, "Aint this a b*&^!"
daveinboca
Let's see. His "home state" goes 5 to 2 for Hillary and this specimen of senility goes for Obama. Talk about disconnected from his constituents! There should be a geezer rule in the Senate.
I lived in DC for twenty years and some of the Senators were totally inside the Beltway. I dated a daughter of one of his operators & found Byrd was a major-league crook, and this was in the seventies!! But the WaPo protects daffy libs.

Hmm...something about a "Byrd in the hand" springs to mind.
We live in a bizarro world, where hate-monger preachers(Hagee, Wright, Palfery et al) and ex-clansman can rub shoulders with big oil and dictator-lobbyists (Black, Loeffler etc).
truly, a bizarro world. Nothing makes sense any more.

"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. But, that boy'll make a fine president."

are you quoting Byrd, and when?
PWT
Yes, that, for the most part, is a quote attributed to Robert Byrd. Except, of course, for the last part which was my own editorial addition.

"If Byrd can see the light, then there is hope!"
Exactly. People can and do change when their eyes have been opened. The obvious concern should be those folks who refuse to change, even after reality has come knocking on their foreheads.
