I wrote my own post about this gas tax tussle today at Why We Worry. More important than the absurdity of her proposed policy is the fact this will never be implemented in the summer as long as Bush is President.

Michael, I have to disagree with you and say that the Bush administration has been elitist. Their tax policy benefits the super rich primarily. Ditto for their war policy, since the super rich aren't being asked to sacrifice their sons or daughters or money in the form of higher taxes. Just about every regulatory agency has been brought under the authority of a former high ranking member of whatever industry they are charged with regulating. And on and on...

Compare that with Bush's treatment of average soldiers in terms of pay, medical care, length of deployments. Think of Bush's response to Katrina and the current mortgage crisis...

Kind of ironic in her first paragraph above she says she's going to reverse the trends in gov't policy that haven't worked for the middle class and have instead resulted in 90 percent of weatlh gains going to the top 10 percent, then she immediately follows up with suggesting we implement a gov't plan that will put money in the oil companies pockets and not do a damn thing for the middle class. Except eat up taxes intended for infrastructure maintenance and improvement.

Also, running counter to expert opinion in order to do so, which has been a hallmark of the Bush administration. Whatever Hillary.
