DLS-

Let's assume, for one psychotic moment, that you are absolutely right.
Everything is the fault of those deluded lefites, ,while Israel's hardliners, and their supporters are the only normal people on earth.

That still doesn't get Israel out of it's difficulties. Like it or not, Israel is there, and it is responsible for the choices it makes in how to deal witth the crazies all around.

The last war with Hezbollah resulted in destabilizing Lebanon, a previously rather moderate country. As a result, Israel has one firend less in the ME., and it doesn't have so many friends that it can take such a loss lightly. Another result is that Hezbollah is stronger than ever.

It was wrong for Hezbollah to do what it did that resulted in the war. It was Israel's choice, however, how to react to provocation. Unconsidered, unquestioned reaction can be very counter productive, as we have seen throughout hsitory, involving many, many countries.
Rome fell because it made some bad choices while attempting to assure its selfpreservation in perpetuum.

This is a debate about choices, about taking responsibility for choices that turn out be poor ones in terms of consequences, and about learning from past errors of judgment.

BTW, one can feel one has absolute moral superiority and still lose.

The Left totally casts facts and morality aside when Israel is concerned. Say, what where the North Koreans and the Syrians up to, by chance? You know, at the nuclear reactor site the evil, war-mongering lust-to-kill-and-destroy Israelis bombed in Syria that we in the States are only now getting around to discussing?

Sorry. I should have realized, that it's Israel's fault and Israel made them build that reactor and try to develop nukes. After all, they have as much right as Israel to have nukes, just like Iran, and in fact, the Left says, they have more right to nukes than evil Israel.

Israel captured the Golan Heaights during the Six Day War, I believe. Unlike the Sinai, the status of this area was never resolved. The law Israel passed to determine the administration of it has never been recognized internationally.

It's easy to understand why Israel would want to keep the Golan Heights: water souces, fertile soil and The Heights from wich the valley can be overseen and Israel protected.
Understanding does not bring resolution and peace., however.

As long as Israel detemrines the admininstration of areas like this unilaterally, there will be continuing animosity and violence.
If we can't get past posturing and unmeetable demands, then nothing will work.

The beginning of the story is missing.

Israel captured the Golan Heights because Israeli valleys were being attacked by the Syrians from the Golan Heights.
