Obama Drama and the McCain Drain

Just a couple of interesting articles:

  • John B. Judis thinks that Obama’s “new-politics” is looking more like the old McGovern coalition and that might spell trouble in November.
  • Salon’s Walter Shapiro has an article that Obama is having trouble closing the deal with Democrats.

On the Republican side. You’d think John McCain would be doing rather well with Hillary and Obama fighting each other. You’d think wrong.

McCain, though already established as the Republican nominee, only won 72% of the vote in the Pennsylvania primary.

If Obama truly looks (or is made to look) like McGovern, he deserves doom in November. Problem is, McCain's greatest strength is merely withstanding the attrition of everyone else. He draws yawns from people. (Kind of like how sane people view the GOP as a whole, too.)

Obama is trying to make sure the party stays together. Hillary is being so divisive that she was slammed by the Times and it's pretty certain there will be retribution by the party after this for her behavior. I am guessing that the party is fed up with Hillary and Obama knows not to cross the line.
She is getting slammed for behaving like and suspected of helping the republicans. It looks like she may be regalated to Liebermann status.
