I was far from impressed, but you can see the post I just put up above this one for the details. It was a yawner, and I don't believe it did much to touch on what the few voters actually paying attention at this point need to hear.

I have to agree with Jim on the capital gains tax issue. There are a variety of issues which resulted in the increase of tax revenue; to phrase a question such that one factor in that increase was the only factor is unfair to the person having to answer.

I think that both moderators felt that they had to be tough on the candidates. There were some slight stumbles by both, but, overall, I consider it a draw. If I were an Obama supporter, I would more than likely stay; If I were a Clinton supporter, the same. It also didn't do much to swing undecideds, either, except if they needed a tiny nudge here or there.

One area that I was somewhat relieved to see was in both candidates aiming arguments at McCain, and talking of a sense of unity after this primary is over. Call me a cynic, but I don't think this debate really did anything more than rehash some older issues that have already been discussed. Very little "new" here.

Joe, it's not live in San Francisco, either. We'll be watching it "together" at 8. I'll refrain from reading in-depth reviews until I watch it.

Well, Charlie Gibson pissed me off. He actually had the gall to claim that 100,000,000 people in the U.S. are affected by current capital gains taxes which is a gross exaggeration. Just because you are invested in companies via your 401K it doesn't mean that you're getting breaks like hedge fund managers get. In addition he said that when those taxes were lowered the government revenues increased as though there were a direct correlation with no other factors like the booming stock market (in the '90s that is) and real estate bubble had nothing to do with it.

Joe,
This is the worst debate I've ever seen. I don't say that as an Obama supporter. I say that as an America. It took an hour before the moderators asked a single substantive question. I know Clinton supporters think it's awful too.
