Bill's involvement ($$$) in CAFTA was probably the reason there was no response in the Clinton Camp for nearly a week when Penn was caught in the meeting with the Colombian rep….The campaign had to figure out a spin as to how to decisively deal with Penn who was up to his ankles when Bill was up to his neck. Mrs. Clinton's always creative spin checked it off as a little “marital disagreement.”

I also wonder about the seeming decline in the former president's political skill. He seems to have gone from “the finest pure politician of his generation” to a gaffe-prone liability to his wife's campaign.

Yet he can still riff off the cuff for extended periods on almost any subject, commanding an audience as the “smartest guy in the room.” Perhaps he's just too close to the subject, it's too personal for him. It would help explain the “I did not have…” silliness of years ago as well.

This begs the question…what happened to Bill Clinton? He has always been driven by his Id…but he was always a sharp enough Pol to conceal this. In fact, the best natural politician of our time.

Yet, on this issue, as ChrisWWW says above: “It's very simple.”

The Bill Clinton Decline has been…perhaps as much as Obamania…the big story of this election to-date. Everyone across the political spectrum…even his foes…are amazed…as Joe's selection notes.

Does anyone have any explanation? I have wondered if he had a mini-stroke? Why is he totally off his game for the first time in decades?

I'm just bewildered by the Clinton's strategy of bringing this Bosnia issue up over and over again. If asked about it, just say that Hillary has already dealt with the issue and he'd rather talk about important issues. It's very simple.
