Makes little sense to me.......

1. McCain has no need to gain foreign policy credentials via proxy
2. Not politically astute to dangle such an obvious connection to Bush's administration
3. McCain should pick someone to carry some heavy water on domestic fiscal policy
4. There is a growing sentiment that making this election into a statement on racial or gender identity is not what is most important to the country. Rice would make McCain look too much like he is trying to play the same game.

Rice won't be chosen because she would remind voters of the Bush foreign policy disasters. Her years as NSA would make great fodder for the Democrats who could crucify her for her failure to heed warnings of an impending domestic attack by al queda. Also, picking Condi offers no geographic advantage--she's from Alabama--but has no real constituency as a Governor or Senator would. She's an introvert from academia who values her privacy---not a natural campaigner. (of course neither is Cheney, lol)

McCain is not going to make a mistake like that-he'll pick someone like Haley Barbour, who can help him with the South-or even Joe Lieberman-who would help with Independents.
