McCain Letterman Barb Exchanges Shows McCain’s Ease On TV

Democrats need to factor into their calculations the fact that presumptive GOP President nominee Senator John McCain is totally relaxed and comes across as quite likable in front of the TV cameras.

Just watch this exchange from a few days on David Letterman’s Show. First, Letterman delivers his zingers and then McCain. The jokes are obviously prepared but note (a) the pizazz with which McCain delivers his opening line, delivered as well as any actor can do it. (b) the ease with which he reads the teleprompter, not looking into it all the time.

But, then again, several years ago he showed he could wow them on Saturday Night Live with this:

Those who wrote McCain's lines did well by him.

Just because he can breeze through a scripted event ( strolls in to the tune of "Soldier Boy" as Dave mocks a shock and awe face) doesn't mean he can think fast on his feet. The first line out of his mouth "you look like the guy that would have his laptop confiscated by the AUTHORITIES" - where is the jackboot sound efx???? The straight talk express is at the bottom of the canyon with Bush's approval rating, and McCain offers us what? 100 years of US Imperialistic occupation of Iraq? I think Johny Mac needs to sit down and watch John Adams and come to the realization that in Iraq, we are the British. True patriots stand against freedom-repressing tyranny in the guise of governance.
