Whocares, you are hardly in any position to say "There you go.". Show me where I said everyone loves Obama. I said that the approach of raising his negatives to make him unelectable alienates me enough to where it would sound better to do so should that campaign tactic continue. And the reason it turns me off so much is that it simply plays into Republican hands as does her and Bill's praise of McCain in comparison to Obama. And your post doesn't do much to improve my opinion of Hillary supporters when you lie about what I said.

No, Holly, it will not be a huge percentage of Democrats that will vote for McCain or not at all. Some will, yes. But not nearly as many as you try to make it sound like. Most Democrats are not as wildly supportive of staying in Iraq forever and unquestioning support of Israel as you are. And when you and Damozel and others try to make the claims in favor of Clinton and making wild accusations against Obama it makes me have as much respect for Clinton and her supporters as I had for Ron Paul. And that represents a great shift for me. I started out with no problems voting for Hillary if she would win the nomination. Now I'm so irritated by hearing the kind of crap from you and others and hearing how Hillary's strategy is to make Obama so unelectable that the Democrats wouldn't dare nominate him (Which your posts tie into quite nicely.) that while I wouldn't vote for McCain not voting for Hillary is sounding better and better.

If, on the other hand, she just continues running and cleans it up and I quit hearing this kind of crap about Obama then I wouldn't have a problem voting for her if she were to pull it out.

Holly, if I understand correctly, you believe Hillary somehow wresting the nomination from the candidate who will almost certainly go into the convention leading in delegates and popular vote in a floor fight can somehow save the Democratic Party from itself?

I can understand believing Obama can't win the general while strongly believing your candidate can, because I strongly believe precisely the opposite. What I can't understand is the willingness to create the conditions (endless controversy-mongering and a floor fight to the death) to create self-fulfilling prophesy. Not only will neither Democrat win following such a debacle, I believe Sen. Clinton (and by extension, Pres. Clinton), would be far, far more damaged in the end, with her becoming the Ralph Nader of 2008 to a vast number of Democratic voters, and leave both their legacies destroyed.

Sen. Obama's candidacy may be fatal to the Democratic Party. Should he be the Democratic nominee, a huge percentage of Democrats will vote for John McCain or not at all.

I think Josh Marshall's take on this question is a pretty good explanation of how a lot of Democrats see the issue - certainly myself. In a nutshell and in my words, sure, going on through the final primaries in June is fine, should the candidates be able to rise above the petty personal and run on pointing out policy differences between themselves *as well as* Sen. McCain.

But, as Marshall notes with Sen. Clinton facing the real possibility now of what he calls "cascade failure," as donors, the press, and finally supporters come to accept that she stands little to no chance of passing Obama's delegate or popular vote totals, that lower-key type of campaign won't do her any good. She desparately needs the constant controversy, etc. just to remain relevant and in the news cycle.

Marshall says it a lot better than I, obviously:
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/186588.php
