Every politician breeds division, to some extent. because some will agree with him/her and some not. when it comes to policy positions.

Disagreements can become contentious, and that's what has happened at every step since the creation of the USA was first contemplated.

If conention and division are to avoid sliding into self-destrucion, we must1 1) be honest about our points of conflict, and 2) look for ways to overcome them instead of getting stuck in looking for means to destroy our opponents.

That's what Obama's speech said to me., among other things.
