What does bother me is that his words reflect a nation that doesn’t exist anymore.

If only that were the problem! The problem is that Rev. Wright's words describe an American that never existed. He's imputing motives to outcomes. The U. S. Government did not deliberately create the AIDS epidemic or introduce drugs into the African American community in a deliberate move to keep the black man down.

Yes, we still have racial problems to contend with. But construing every evil that befalls members of the black community as a plot doesn't help that struggle at all. It's just the speaking of radicalism—a raised consciousness.
