It's quite possible, of course, that the motication you assign to the Clintons is correct. That something is possible does not make it fact, however. I think a litle humilry about mind reading talents all around would help in keeping political debates below explosion level, though.

I just read an opinion claiming that Obama's distancing himself from his pasttor, Rev. Wright, is nothing but a hypocritical and cynical political maneuver.
I reject such an intuited aspersion about Obama's motivation; in fact, my blood pressure soared when I read this commentary.
I can't abide having one set of rules for freinds and another set for enemies. I would like to see both sides treated with an equal amount of consideration and caution when it comes to the assignemtn of intent and motivation.

Then, too, even if what you claim is true, keeping this story front and center just aids and abets in keeping the race issue in the forefront. Self-defeating, IMO.

We can;t have one set of rules for friends and another for enemies, or the poliitcal hatred in the nation (and now in the Democratic party) will never abate.

The question of race was discussed openly in all sorts of venues. There were plenty of negative comments, but there were many more who saw Obama's black skon as a sign of hope. They were delighted to have a black candidate at last. Whatever the tenor and tone, speculation about the impact of Obama's race was rampant. Only no one found that extraordicary. It was no more controversial than afficilations with corporations, religious beliefs or a host of other persoanl matters.

Then, boom, the anti-Clinton stroy line took hold. Suddently every word on the subject is a ticking time bomb.

Every time a post like this appears, it's a remider that we should keep on fighting about the race issue instead trying to get past it.

I don't think Obama is thankful. It's hurting him, too., because it veers the conversation away from his message of unity and reforming poliitcs. for the sake of the joy of mud slinging.

The excuse used, that the Clintons started the negativity, carries no more weight with me than 'Johnny made me do it.”That's a chicken and egg question best left alone.

The clintons were not the first to bring the subject up.

“The enthusiasm that you get from the BLACK community on this BLACK candidate is wonderful, and I don’t think you can deny it.”

Look white people, Obama is BLACK. Didn't you realize he was BLACK? Isn't it great that he's BLACK.
