Kritt – I would agree with that re: who saw him as a rising star. I would never have seen this former head of the Michigan Young Republicans and higher up with John McCain's straight talk express in Michigan as a rising star either, but there you go. (He was given the maximum sentence – five years I believe)

DLS- I won't defend Spitzer, but he was definitely a rising star to Democrats, just as many in the GOP thought George Allen was the next Reagan, until “maccacagate”.

It is impossible to defend Eliot Spitzer. Also, he never was a rising star to those who are and have known better.
