The Sound of One Hand Thunderclapping

We all know that the news media is breathlessly waiting for the other shoe to drop in Albany, but there is other big news today and I hope you’re sitting down as you read this: The Pentagon has concluded that there were no ties between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda.

In Pentagon-speak, there were no “operational links” between the bad man and the bad terror group found in a review of hundreds of thousands of captured Iraqi documents, which effectively undermines one of the biggest Bush-Cheney lies.

More here.

Meanwhile, back in Albany . . .

Haven't we known this for awhile? The administration will just brush it off and likely in the next sentence mention how we are fighting terrorism in Iraq. Not like it can hurt the president now anyways.

It can't hurt the president now, anyways, no matter how much some may wish it to.

DLS - This kind of emerging information will hurt Bush where it hurts him the most - his legacy.
  • It also might shut up people like Christopher Hitchens...

    1. *** WHAT *** legacy?

    2. I'm normal. I not only wasn't surprised, I also wasn't led to leave my seat.

Anyone who has a grasp of why accountability is so important, especially in the halls of power, wouldn't be so quick to sound the all-clear. Regardless of your tribal affiliation, accountability should be considered a GOOD thing. That said, I realize what a challenge it might be to pry Bush & Co. from their extremely well insulated and cushy post-government plans. That doesn't mean it isn't worth a shot. Given the appalling record, I'd say it's MORE than worth a shot.
