Dave, what agency that is truly child protective is looking into this matter, do you know? If this is a legitimate letter from a child who is incarcerated in an adult facility, there needs to be an immediate intervention. Do you know how this letter came out into the world, by who or what agency? Thanks.

It's from the Hutto Prison in Texas, and as far as I can tell, it's perfectly "legal" -- the folks there are "imprisoned" administratively, not criminally, so even though they aren't free to leave and are treated like criminals, it's "okay". The prison has a huge population of children.

This has so become not the country I grew up in. Something happened. It's almost as though most of the adults had left - leaving a better dressed, middle-aged lord of the flies scenario. So we have 9 year old children in jail in the USA now?? In so many ways I'm ashamed of my generation. They are the ones mostly in charge now and there seems to be this huge sensibility deficit among them, our government would be the obvious example, but it is so widespread. The boomers grew up in such incredibly fertile soil, but where is the great harvest?? I know I'm digressing here, but to me it all seems connected. Sorry to sound so pessimistic.

So much for the pro-immigration spin that the illegal aliens from Mexico were just adult males who are working the jobs that Americans will not take and who just want to support their families in Mexico.

I wonder what the real story is instead of the open border, unlimited immigration spin. If the families from Mexico really cared about their children, maybe they would stop breaking the laws of the U.S.

There used to be a time when the borders of the U.S. actually meant something. I wonder what happen to the U.S. that the political leaders are willing to sell citizenship for a few dollars.

It holds the entire family together that is claiming asylum because too many previous asylum claimers would just disappear into the immigrant community in the U.S. Of course, I doubt anyone hear will condemn the previous asylum liars for making it harder on the current asylum claimers.
