(World War II was the completion of this process.) Though there were warnings (not merely in the Crimean War but obviously with the well-known example of the US Civil War, itself in the USA, this nation's second revolution), they went unheeded and World War I (which featured additional technical advances) consumed amazing numbers of lives as well as riches.<br><br>I don't buy global warming hype and PC celeb drivel. The Middle East is one area where the tremendous decrease in fertility levels throughout the world have not always or completely taken hold, and so you have a rapidly growing population in what is an urbanized desert.
