Even though Florida and Michigan broke the Democratic Party rules by moving their primaries up, you keep your name on the ballots anyways as your ace in the hole. You know if all else fails (on when you just want to slap that silly young black dude up), you can paint Senator Obama has a party splitter, disenfranchiser, and downright enemy to democracy if he doesn’t go along with a re-vote. At the same time reducing DNC chairman Howard Dean to a pile of putty even though he’s enforcing the rules (the nerve of him). This leaves the door open for you stage a coup at the DNC, strong-arm a nomination (I admire a “down for whatever” lady), and wipe the figurative floor with Senator McCain (oldie but a goodie) in becoming the first female President of the United States of America! You crafty ol’ dev… OOPS! You crafty ol’ girl!

I don't know about Michigan, but I know about my state legislature (Florida). It has a veto-proof Republican majority (since '99 or '00). The Republicans were going to move the primary whatever the Dems did — specifically to mess with the Dems' process.
The Rs thought it would be sweeter to get some Dems to support it too, so they added the provision about paper trails for our highly questionable voting machines. NO Dem would vote against the paper-trail.
Fl's Dems had nothing to do with the law that broke DNC rules. That said, the DNC didn't even bother listening when Karen Thurman tried to explain this.
Incidentally, our legislature is so highly Republican largely because of gerrymandering during the last redistricting.
To exemplify how futile Tallahassee is for Dems: in 2001, I was visiting the minority leader. Her friend, another rep from Palm Beach County, took me to an agenda meeting before we went to the House floor. The chair (an R) set out the agenda, the majority of the committee's members (Rs) voted for it, and the meeting was over in literally a minute or two. No debate or compromise or anything.
That's the way Florida government has been since the Rs took their super majority in the lege.

No of course not. My lil' sarcasm is mainly to show how politicians will use anything and everything to “get” their opponent. The DNC along with MI and FL leadership handled this wrong.
Playing into how one candidate wants a redo and praising/criticizing it is counterproductive IMHO. I'm sure if the roles were reversed, Senator Obama would have done the same as Senator Clinton. Politicians will be politicians.
I know not what I am except that I'm a very pissed off independent voter Cosmo. And that I can't wait until this thing is over.

I think Barry-O would do well in a Michigan re-vote. But I'm a Obama slappy so take what I said with a grain of sand.
Who knows what would happen in Michigan if we were to be given a legitimate primary? I'm a life-long resident and political junkie to boot, and I wouldn't place any bets. One thing for sure, so far we've been screwed out of having a voice by the Idiots (note the capital I) who brought this about. And of course the state can't afford another primary, cuz we're just poor folk here now – can't even fix the roads, which are all turning into cattle trails.

My front axle is starting to make weird noises when I crank
the wheel all the way to the left or the right now, and I know it's
from all the banging and bouncing around on these falling
apart roads. Funny thing, I remember back when MI had the
best roads in the country. Not anymore! They are especially
bad now cuz we've had a traditional winter, and not one of
the mild ones we've been spoiled with the past few years.
The states and organizations in the states of concern are acting like demanding parasitic-welfare-recipient types. They broke the rules, they have to pay for new elections, obviously. They're parasites and offensive to better people when they demand someone else pay for new elections, under any circumstances, but particuarly galling because it's due to their deliberate disobeyance of the rules. This goes for Crist as well as for the Dems. And of course the contemporary “disenfranchise[d, ment]” loser lie is hurled. THEY CHOSE TO BREAK THE RULES; THEY MUST PAY FOR ANY VALID NEW ELECTIONS. Obviously. Stupid parasites.
