I am sure that more will be posted about the McCain scandal. But at this time I am not nearly as interested in the alleged sexual liaison as I am in the favors he may have done for a lobbyist.
Anyone who's serious about finding out whether there was really any ethical impropriety ought to at least examine McCain's rebuttal, and compare this to the lack of substance given in the NYT hitpiece. http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NTc5M2…
Casualobserver Captain Ed's comments are among those assembled by Joe in a later post. Joe usually goes out of his way to include views points from the entire political spectrum.
LOL, of course, CO. I must have forgotten where I was. Actually I'm surprised I haven't been hit yet with the reflexive accusation of being an apologist.
Paul: Joe does in fact go out of the way to do that, so please understand that we're generally referring to the peanut gallery of commenters here.
I'm wondering if this is the bombshell that many publications have been hinting at, but were holding back on. I'm sure a lot more will be coming out about this story, but I'll await confirmation from other sources concerning its veracity.
I saw it said somewhere else, don't remember where, but the Times knew this would cause a firestorm – one that in its own way could even help McCain (see for ex. the fundraising letter sent out by the campaign today). But the Times isn't stupid. There's probably more to come.
In any case, I could give a damn what McCain does in his personal life. The real issue is of course the influence peddling angle, tied to the guy who said he has NEVER done favors for lobbyists. (A silly thing to say, given the Keating affair).
Also, this would have been theoretically more damaging when there was still real ongoing competition in the Republican primaries, as well as if published in, say late October. But, if there's nothing more concrete to the story than what's already been published, then the Times deserves the criticism it's getting from the Right. We'll see.
“LOL, of course, CO. I must have forgotten where I was.”
Actually this place is pretty solid about waiting to judge on many things. This is one of them. Also, everyone knows McCain was involved in the Keating thing, and since then he has been as vocal as anyone in the senate about reform on the issue. No expects him to be perfect except for his detractors. Enough with the consevative victimization.

Is the sex scandal the one in the 200 election, or that he was boffing the current wife while married to the first?
Obama and the D's should steer clear, and focus on the issues.
cs, we never let the facts get in the way of good smear headline against an R here.
Captain Ed covers the details that won't appear here.

“NYT hitpiece”
Note that the Times had endorsed McCain earlier. What did they know and what may they have been planning about this story, while endorsing him?

Also, in case you haven't noticed the only person getting smeared here lately is Clinton.
LOL, lighten up, Slamfu, please. It was a joke, not a whine about victimization.
