"The Obama camp understood exactly what they were doing." No doubt they knew exactly what they were doing, and they even announced in advance what they were going to do. It certainly didn't give Hillary much air time, but why should he give her any more time? (It's a rhetorical question). I think it's well played.

"Obama has all but wrapped it up at this point..." I'd love to believe that but it ain't over until the fat lady sings. But I will admit that I'm breathing a lot easier tonight because I just think Obama may indeed have it wrapped up.

Mike, your post is nicely put. Thanks.

The Obama camp understood exactly what they were doing. They gave Sen. Clinton a good, what 10-15 minutes of national air time, to at least acknowledge her loss and graciously mention Obama, and she didn't do it. And you know, it's time for Obama to act like the front runner, and give as much as they have taken over the last couple of weeks - which they then did.

Fact of the matter is including Hawaii, Obama has all but wrapped it up at this point, though the media are loathe to admit it - horserace equals ratings. At this point, she not only MUST win TX and OH, she's has to win big - and it's just not going to happen. The Clinton campaign knows it, Obama's campaign knows it, McCain's campaign knows it, and the news media knows it.

elrod, Anderson Cooper on CNN just asked Candy Crowley (covering Obama) on CNN if Obama cut in on Hillary on purpose. Candy said that the Obama campaign has said that as soon as Obama got a phone call by someone calling the race they would play a video and then he would go on stage to give his speech, which is what he did. Candy did say that there might have been a little bit of gamesmenship in Obama's timing. But since the Obama campaign gave their plans in advance I'm not sure of that.

Candy also went on to say that a politician doesn't pass up an opportunity to address the most possible people.

Tim Russert suggested that when Clinton refused to congratulate Obama in her Youngstown speech, Obama went ahead with his Houston speech, knowing the media would can Hillary. I can't say I blame Obama for jumping the gun on the speech. Of course, a victory speech is more fun.
