Maybe I just started noticing how much everyone lies in office, in front of Congress, on the campaign trail, etc.<br><br> It seems to be expected by the press, who'd rather focus on sensational aspects of politics---ie blowing up small differences into big feuds. There are no unifying forces calling for truth in government. jdledell- We are feeling exactly the same way. Politics has become corrupted and it did not start with Bush but he merely elevated it a new plateau. Lying has become commonplace as "spin" has lost touch with reality. McCain can absolutely lie about Romney's position on Iraq timetables and no one calls him on it. The press should be crucifying McCain for such a blatant lie but it appears that no one cares anymore. The Bush administration wouldn't have appointed Mukasey if they thought that he would declare any of their past actions illegal. Mukasey's job is to placate Congress while protecting the president's policies from intrusive investigations. Pitiful. The Bush legacy will include this violation of the Geneva Conventions, and considerable stonewalling to protect all involved.
