Talk radio has been humbled. We get to decide what a Republican is or isn't and not be told what to do byh the Neanderthal wing of the Party. I love to hear Hannity whine. Malkin is a nut case and Rush is part of the Brandy and Cigar elitists in the party . Bye bye elitists hello real Republicans. We've broken the chains of talk radio.

Not to inject BDS, but Bush gutted the GOP and sycophants like Malkin , Hewitt and Limpbaugh joined in the gravy train.

McCain has his PorkBusters(like Flake) and was calling for a surge before W. It took W seven years and Democrats in Congress to pull the veto pen out of his desk.

In this case the problem isn't so much McCain's but with the radio talksters. Do they have to writhe or even flatly rebut their earlier statements if they operate in true party-hack mode? (That is what Limbaugh has routinely done prior to elections.)

K, there is no substantial or even significant far right presence, much less clout, in this country. Everyone to the right of McCain, Reagan, Thatcher, etc., are not, nor have ever been, far right or “ultra-conservative.” (The day someone advocates stripping women or minorities of the vote, say, then you'll have a point.) Moderates who lean rightward (such as I) distrust McCain — it has to do with ideology more than it has to do with partisanship even though ideology and partisanship are strongly “parallel” in this country.

Interesting to see that talk radio hosts' attempts to retain the far right focus of the GOP is actually splintering the party instead of holding it together. I've wondered for many years why moderate Republicans didn't rise up and fight the ultraconservative wing of the party. Now, it seems like moderates are converging with Independents to choose a candidate who is not ideologically pure. Conservatives sense a traitor in their midst, and cannot tolerate it. That's why McCain is hated in some circles more than the Clintons. The Clintons are expected to take the stands they do, while McCain has betrayed the GOP in unpredictable ways.

Image what conservative radio is going to sound like after the Republicans nominate McCain and he probably loses in a Bob Dole like landslide and harms many of the down ticket Republicans. A McCain lose with a 60 Democratic seat Senate would make the conservative radio hosts look correct.

Also, the conservative radio hosts lead the effort to defeating the idiotic immigration bill that would not only have destroyed any chance for a conservative party to be successful in the U.S. but would have lower the quality of life for most middle class and blue collar Americans.

Now McCain who support the bill will be the Repulbican even though he was too dense and too stubborn to realize how bad the immigration bill was for America.
