I just don't understand where this respect for Captain's Quarters comes from. Whenever I've checked it out it seems like any other conservative Republican blog. Maybe not quite as whacked out as LGF or Powerlines but not that much different in its Bush worship, either. So far as I've seen, Romney is promising the base to be a good little Bush clone. Has he said anything to counter that view?

George Bush was a governor of Texas for two terms and I think he did a relatively miserable job of managing the Presidency.

I doubt Ed would agree.

Captain Ed seems to have based his choice primarily on executive experience.
George Bush was a governor of Texas for two terms and I think he did a relatively miserable job of managing the Presidency.

[...] The Moderate Voice - Domestic and international news analysis, irreverent comments, original reporti... wrote an interesting post today on A Lukewarm Endorsement For the MittsterHere’s a quick excerptA Lukewarm Endorsement For the Mittster January 28th, 2008 by Shaun Mullen It seems appropriate that I got “trapped” in the comments section at Captain’s Quarters and couldn’t get out after reading the 200-plus responses to Ed Morrissey’s decision to caucus for Mitt “Earpiece” Romney in the forthcoming Minnesota caucuses. Ed had said previously that he would make no call at all, but in the end explained it had come down to Romney and Rudy Giuliani. While many commenters applauded The Captai [...]

What the Republicans are going to have to realize is that the current crop of presidential candidates are probably unfit to be dog catcher let alone president. The Republicans would be better off dumping the current group of candidates and starting over instead of deciding who is the least pathetic candiate of the current crop. If the voters want better candidates, they have to stop voting for lousy candidates just because they are on the ballot.

Until the Republicans insist that their candidates have some level of crediblity on the issues that are important to conservatives, their party will continue to collapse.
