A Centrist’s View of Media Exaggeration

Jon Stewart voiced my frustration with the unreasonable and inaccurate exaggeration of what news makers say and mean. It seems to me that most of what is said is sensational and dramatic enough without adding the hyperbole. Can it not be sufficient for media to report the facts without spinning them. This is why I tend to favor PBS and CSPAN, who fall into this trap far less often than the news/entertainment shows.

    Priceless! I love Stewart.

Kudos to Stewart on that piece and kudos to you, Paul, for bringing it to us.

Although, if you're looking for a job as hyperbole sheriff, you can have plenty to do just with the column writing here!

I saw this on his show last night – Stewart has been terrific the last couple of weeks pointing this sort of media shenanigans out. But he's been doing it for a long time – Remember the Incident At Crossfire? Thank God for The/A Daily Show and Colbert Report!

P.S.: do tags work in Disqus? I'd post the link to the Crossfire video but don't want to “break” the comments section by accident! ….searching FAQ…
