"So Billary doesn't view the tactics as hurting the Dems."

How could they, when they never do anything wrong? Don't believe the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy (what used to be called "the American public").

That's Hilllary's approach to politics- the same old style (tall tales and just enough false allegations to bring into question her opponent) that the Clintons have used the last couple of decades. Nothing will change with them. This is the environment they are comfortable working in. (Though to be fair they've also been on the receiving end of similar Republican attacks. And plenty of Democrats use the same tactics just not to the same degree as success as Bush/Rove and the Clintons.)

Bill rightly views the race to the WH as two races- the primary and the general election. He'll say what is necessary to get Hillary nominated at the convention (the prize of the first battle), but he's counting on the Dems to pull together against the Republicans in the general election, regardless of what he says or does. And- to be fair to Billary (yes, both Bill and Hill), they will throw their considerable weight behind the Dem. nominee should that nominee be someone other than Hillary. They expect the team to pull together and support the Dem. Bill probably views any voter who is put-off by the sleazy process he perpetuates as a casualty of war. Furthermore he probably doesn't understand why someone (who is put off by the process) who doesn't want a Republican in office would stay home and not vote.

As was pointed out in the posting and some of the updates, Billary's attacks might very well cause many people to stay home or throw some independents' support to the Republicans. For me the greatest Karl Rove lesson (and it's a basic lesson, but one which Rove took full advantage of in the execution of his strategy to get out the votes) was that it only takes a few votes to win an election.

So Billary doesn't view the tactics as hurting the Dems. Billary views the primary as a battle to be won and then on to the general election. Sure Billary's actions may be dispiriting to many voters, but if Hillary wins- then that's all that counts.

Contrast that to Obama who is reaching out to independents and Republicans. If anyone wants to know how each of the candidates will govern, then all that is necessary is to look at how the candidates are conducting their campaigns. Billary is injecting divisiveness into the campaign in an effort to win supporters, while Obama is speaking to a broader audience, to win as much support as necessary and to bring this country together.

If he is going to confront Bill (disbarred for perjury) Clinton every time Bill lies, Obama is going to be the busiest man in America.

Joe - the only point I would add is that, interestly, I've seen and read very little about Bill's overreaching into the campaign and know of it only because of what others have said. We have to remember who is playing all the clips, clipping all the quotes and recyclying them repeatedly.

My not seeing them doesn't mean that they didn't happen - of course not, and I'm not suggesting that. But I do think this observation means that we have to be diligent in determining how much is spin and by whom and THEN, get back to what matters to us in a president.

Hillary has to be asked, point blank, what her plans are and how they will be implemented when it comes to Bill and she must respond to it. That's the only way, in my mind, that this can be resolved.
