No Hope for the Gringo Election
The Mexicans are watching all this voting malarkey that is going on north of their border. They seem sure of just two things: that American voters are turning their backs on the political establishment and all the mess it has made over the last few years … (as in the form of McCain and Obama) … but that whomever those Americans choose, they’re doomed anyway… because all of the candidates are compromised by the Imperial model to which they are all committed…
Mmmm… Perhaps the next Mexican border dash could include one of their own, not so sullied, to help us out?

Imperialist indeed! It almost sounded as if the writer of the editorial was trying to convince him or herself of the view posited in the piece. If only it were that easy; perhaps such rhetoric could convince the “sullied” masses to stop crossing the border into a country which clearly has no future, or create a kind of mass “sponge” migration in the other direction. But then La Jornada would have bigger things to worry about….like where they're going to find new editorial writers after the angry mob discovers it has been lied to.
