A Real Liberal Looks at RWN’s 20 Most Annoying Liberals

An excursion via Memeorandum led me to

RightWingNews – The Twenty Most Annoying Liberals In The United States: The 2007 Edition

Funny, I’m not much like the folks on the list and dislike or disagree with many of them. I don’t even watch the TV heads (but I do belong to the ACLU)!

Listing all of the top Democratic candidates was not really fair of RWN.

Listing all of the top Democratic candidates was not really fair of RWN.

Listing Hillary as the #1 liberal, when her voting record is more Lieberman than Pelosi, says all about this absurd list. And I'm not even a fan of Hillary, this years centrist or 1994's liberal.

Fair? Come on. This is just for the Republican base.

Well, Holly, you certainly wouldn't be surprised by the latest Iranian games in the Strait of Hormuz.

Chris Matthews loves John McCain and in his last book spoke about how Ronald Reagan was one of his heroes. He has spent the last few months lambasting Hillary Clinton, talking about her screeching and cackling. When she made one equivocal answer during a debate about immigration, he pounced on it and obsessed for two straight weeks.

If he were a true liberal wouldn't he host Jimmy Carter on his show or Obama or Al Gore? He'd do anything to make sure the GOP lost in '08.

The right wing website put Hillary down as a liberal, because she is a divisive figure, having been smeared by the right wing when Bill was in office. Her election would be their worst nightmare- I think they believe they can defeat Obama and Edwards, but the Clintons are tough. She and Bill are both moderate centrists.

My list would have contained Rosie O'Donnell, Al Franken, Randi Rhodes and Jessie Jackson. Holly is right that the list is mostly the Democratic candidates for president by order of threat.

"She and Bill are both moderate centrists."

??? !!! Like Michael Lerner and the views in his paper, Tikkun? In 1993-4, Hillary Clinton was "progressive" [sic] or even more radical than that.

Do you base your statement on her contemporary make-no-waves Presidential-prep time in the Senate and in her campaign? The "centrism" is a mask. If she went too far left at this time, for every vote she'd gain she'd lose a multiple.

Do you base your statement on her earlier health care plan being fascistic and involving HMO-based alliances (i.e., incorporating Big Business into it) rather than being a plan more like extending Medicare to everyone? I realise those on the far Left disparaged the Clinton plan.
