No. Nor would we support any candidate who is simply a stupid Bush-basher.

If he is unable, it's likely because he really isn't innovative. (He's a standard old central city Blue Nation Democratic machine politician.) Or it may be that he is unwilling, and in either case, those of us who aren't merely enchanted by the superficial ask why. (Because he knows he offers nothing new, really, other than his face?)

Obama can talk all about leading for everyone but when he wants to maintain the open borders policy of the current administraiton he screws over a large number of Americans (including many blacks). When Obama propose large tax increase, he screws over many middle class Americans.

When he refuses to support any educational reform not support by the teachers union, he is not doing it for everyone but for a very specific special interest.

Senator Obama can do the black preacher act all he wants but his policies are no different than what Dick Durbin would propose. Would anyone really support Dick Durbin for President? I doubt it. Does it really change anything for Obama to support boiler plate Democratic programs without any new ideas?

I agree with you and wonder (and hope) that Obama can keep up the momentum.

BTW: my posting immediately above this was meant to be a thread- a reply- to superdestroyer's post. I remember seeing a comment by T_Steel yesterday that the thread feature would be temporarily discontinued while changes were made. Well I guess it's still discontinued. I'll have to remember to directly address my posts to the person I'm responding to (like the old days) rather than rely on the (broken) thread feature.

Bush continues to say the economy is good- and when you are the Prez. of Big Oil (and one of your main supporters made $40bn, Exxon-Mobil), then yes, the economy is doing fantastic! But the economic outlook for the little man, that Bush has never cared about (except to get their vote), sucks big time.

So what Obama wants to do is engage the entire country in helping formulate policies (and not just ask oil companies to write the environmental policies). It seems hard to believe that people have forgotten that the purpose of government service is to help people and in order to do that their input is necessary. That's good government and it's opposite of the Bush government which sets policy without listening to either the public or experts.

However, for al of the preaching and television persona, Senator Obama's policy positions are boiler plate urban, very liberal Democratic positions. Senator Obama may want to appeal to everyone with his rhetoric but when Senator Obama comes out with a policy position to nationalize health care or have a federal industrial policy dressed up as greenhouse gasses control, people who be on both sides of the issues and it will be bitter.
