[...] As indicated in a recent post, I like Huckabee, but until I can resolve the apparent paradox of the “change candidate” whose support base its Bush’s base, my jury has to stay out and I can’t fully trust him. [...]

Still in 4 or 8 years he would be running for the presidency again as a sitting VP. He's the GOP's Jimmy Carter.

Making him VP would be in the hope (no pun intended) that he would do no harm.

The elites hate Huckabee -- how dare he move from the back to the front of the GOP bus? Wall Street and the business community will see to it that he is not the nominee. Maybe he'll be made VP in the hope of continuing to get those Religious Right votes.

Huckabee won't be nominated. He just appeals mostly to the evangelical wing of the party. The fiscal conservative Grover Norquist wing would never allow it, which is why he's being trashed by el Rushbo, Bob Novak, and ignored by the big GOP donors, who don't want a true compassionate conservative in the WH. Why do you think he's raised so little money?

You would think that America's current experience with a former big spending southern governor who does not sweat the details would teach the Republican voters a lesson. But I guess not.

Huckabee, if nominated, will lose in a rout so bad that it will probably give the Democrats 60 seats in the senate. That is one of the reasons that the MSM is so excited about his current successes.
