Follow your own examples. The BBC and The Telegraph are both examples of traditional news organizations operating with balance and objectivity. Equivalents in the U.S. would be the hard-news reporting offered by PBS, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Lehrer News Hour, etc.

The rest of the world is not alone in not understanding candidates. In the US most candidates flip and flop many of their positions to suit their immediate political needs. Granted that they don't flop around on EVERY issue, but they do so on enough that no one understands what they stand for.

Just to respond to Somebody's comments- whatever Somebody's personal feelings on Obama and Hillary- they are like all the other candidates- some people love them and some people hate them. Personally I find Obama to be the most consistent in his message over the years. And when all the other politicians were jumping on the "bpmb-Iraq" train, Obama felt that Bush's plan for the invasion of Iraq was wrong. Obama felt terrorists needed to be dealt with but not the Bush way. Obama wanted to fight terrorists the "smart" way. Obama's belief's were against the prevailing political winds, but he stood up for what he believed in. Unlike most other politicians who cowed to Bush's pressure.

Whether or not you like Obama's issues you have to admit he's the one candidate that you know where he stands. The more I learn about other candidates and their records (and what they say now) the less I know what to believe about them- other than the fact that they are chameleons.

Good luck in your pursuit and if you find a magic formula, please share it!

Secondly what I find particularly frightening is that those who favor Obama hide his issues and his stances because if you go to his website and read up on his stand on the issues....Its scary.

Yet Hillary gets attackrf for being not far left enough because she wants to appeal to a bipartisan base AS DID BILL CLINTON. Bill was popular because he was a MODERATE president.

Hillary is pretty far left in her philosophy but is willing to moderate her stance in an attempt to follow in his footsteps yet her message cannot be heard because blog topia has become all about character assassinations and the issues can go to......down there.

So tell your foreign readers if they want to understand the issues they will have to dig thru the filth and the scum of Polarized, venom laced politics to get to the truth. Issues dont seem to matter anymore.

Anyone know what Bill Richardson or Hunter Duncan stand for here? They are the two candidates with the most experience, most wisdom and the most in my opinion ability to get the job done in a way that would not polarize America and yet.

Blog topia is all about polarizing American politics because those running blog sites have a passion for where they stand and what they believe that goes beyond the ordinary citizen who no longer can get unbiased news from these sites.

People like Joe try, but as even he points out....the writers make their own calls and unless he starts editing their work, they will "Make their own calls."

People living outside America find it difficult to get a clear picture of the issues and candidates in the US presidential election 2008 as a majority of the US media and the blogs seem to have become rather emotive (and partisan?), and the verbiage in the news reports and commentary is not of much help to non-Americans.

Thank You Swaraaj. This is precisely what I pointed out is happening at the TMV the other day and got a reproach from Joe.

We in Blog Topia no longer seem interested in what the candidates stand for on the issues but rather are focused entirely on the Candidate of our choice and the issues be damned.

Don't let the confusion outside of the USA depress you. There are no longer issues involved in Elections. What seems to now be the prevailing attitude among bloggers is that nearly all have made up their mind and are going to support candidate X and the rest of the candidates best move aside because here comes my WRATH.

Its insane. Blog Topia is a joke. Yet its not funny. A candidate no longer can address issues without being laughed off the stage by left or right.

I asked a question and only got a rebuke.

"But what about the ISSUES."
