The CIA's record is what it is; nobody has needed to distort it. How ironic that the writer is an Iraqi and the CIA so completely blew pre-war intelligence. The role of the CIA in the intelligence community fundamentally changed in 2004 and it's influence has greatly diminished. I remain astonished that so few seem aware of this and continue to view the CIA as either the entire intelligence community or at least it's biggest player. It is neither and in terms of budget and personnel is probably 4 or 5 on the list. I’ll add to Tully’s pickyness with my own. The CIA was created in 1947, but as a much different agency that covered some of the same functions by absorbing some of the remnants of the OSS. I know, I'm picky.
