The one good piece of news that is substantial at this time is the fall of Giuliani (which many of us don't regret). He isn't even bothering to spend a respectable amount of time here in Iowa, but is sitting down in Florida -- and Huckabee is doing well against him there, too! Giuliani's fall has to be good news for the Democratic candidates and to Democratic voters. Note also Huckabee's rise nationally, not only in Iowa.

I'm surprised all the liberals here on this "moderate" [sic] site haven't taken time out from their hyper-analysis of the hourly state of Democratic candidates to view their opposition. (Tunnel vision...) There's information on the Dems in this report, too.

From the latest poll showing a wide-open GOP field and Giuliani no longer a strong leader:

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows the former New York City mayor now tied nationally with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 20% among Republicans nationally, just slightly ahead of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 17% and Arizona Sen. John McCain at 14%. At a time when Mr. Romney has fallen behind Mr. Huckabee in the leadoff state of Iowa, the result signals a dramatic shift in the nature of the Republican contest: In a party with a history of rewarding established front-runners, there's no longer a front-runner of any kind.

The Democratic race has remained a more stable contest among the top contenders. Mrs. Clinton draws 45% of the national Democratic vote to 23% for Mr. Obama, both down slightly from November. Mr. Edwards has risen slightly to 13% from 11%, with the remaining Democratic contenders drawing 4% of the vote or less.

...[T]he survey shows Mr. Obama leading Mr. Giuliani by 49%-40% in a hypothetical match up, a margin exceeding Mrs. Clinton's 46%-43% edge over the ex-mayor. Mr. Obama leads Mr. Huckabee, the hottest Republican candidate currently, by 48%-36%. Mrs. Clinton leads Mr. Huckabee by a narrow 46%-44% margin.

CNN = Clinton News Network, Clearly Not Neutral

There's no need for hyperventilating and micro-analyzing every hour of the (Democratic) campaigns; just wait until after elections actually begin, and particularly until after February 5th.

Wow. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that Senator Clinton is ahead in a CNN poll.

You'll have to forgive my skepticism here, but when half a dozen polls tell you half a dozen different things about who's in first, it's tough to take any of them seriously. Least of all a poll taken by a "news" company that shows as much favoritism for Clinton as Fox does for GWB.
