Leading Candidates Week at the WaPo

If one of my esteemed co-editors or another TMV contributor already made reference to this week-long series of leading-candidate profiles in the WaPo, I apologize for the duplication. But in my all-too-frequent mode of being late to the party, I just discovered these articles, and I found them quite impressive and compellingly thorough — and I wanted to share the link with anyone else who suffers from a similar “hey, I didn’t know that was there” syndrome.

My man McCain is up today. Clinton was profiled this past Sunday; Romney on Monday; Edwards on Tuesday; Thompson yesterday; Obama tomorrow; Huckabee on Saturday, and Rudy G. on Sunday, Dec. 16.

Enjoy.

  1. DLS says:

Obama published his statement on foreign policy in Foreign Affairs earlier, and now it’s Huckabee’s turn.

Summary: The Bush administration’s arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad. American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out. In particular, it should focus on eliminating Islamist terrorists, stabilizing Iraq, containing Iran, and toughening its stance with Pakistan.

Already conservative critics are angry he is critical of Bush, upset at that phrase, “bunker mentality.”
