Hamburg: The best-known face of Scientology is that of superstar Tom Cruise, one of the most popular actors in the world. But security authorities are convinced that behind the Hollywood facade hides a dangerous cult that is reaching for power – even within Germany.
“Scientology is an unconstitutional organization” says Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble (of the Christian Democratic Union ) in an interview with BILD am SONNTAG. “Significant and fundamental human rights, such as the right to human dignity and the right to equal treatment are to be restricted or repealed. The democratic system is being rejected.”
The dramatic warning to the Interior Minister: “Scientology is also working out in Germany, political power and influence to gain.”
The Interior Minister’s dramatic warning: “Scientology is working to gain political power and influence in Germany as well.”
In its latest report, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution [one of Germany's intelligence agencies ] quotes from an internal document of the sect, which affords some terrifying insights. “Berlin, as the capital of Germany, is a vital address with regard to Scientology,” the report says. “In order to execute our planetary rescue campaigns we need to reach the highest levels of the German government in Berlin.”
The organization is extending its reach: At the beginning this year, Scientology’s new center in Berlin was inaugurated – a six-floor glass palace with 4,000 square meters. New centers also opened in Madrid, London and Brussels.
Even Gore and his fumb-duck groupies haven’t said this, at least not yet — have they?
A quick google search of the string “we need to reach” and ‘highest levels of government’ (no parenthesis), gives quite a few hits, most of which are benign, folks seeking to get their case heard at the higher levels of gov’t. Perhaps I’m merely influenced by the fact that I’ve made peace with religion being a factor in politics, I don;t see why a philosophy of the sort a stoic or epicurean would advance is going to get traction at high gov;t levels.
Reading the rest of the Bilde article, I thought I was reading something by a compatriot of rush limbaugh or somesuch. That later part was really shrill. I mean, let’s look at the following:
New members are substantially manipulated and estranged from their families. One must “regurgitate” the sect’s ideology. Children as young as four have been subjected to “cleansing rituals.”
This differs from school… how?
Bellis-
“This differs from school… how?”
Boy, you must have had a bad school experience.
The schools of my children and grandchildren, enouraged family ties Also, aside from teaching ideologies like politeness and consideration, none of them were required to regurgitate anything.
My condolences.
Well, I wouldn’t say I had the worst childhood school issues, lol; just that going to school at times was just doing things like memorizing multiplication tables and being told “this is right, and this is wrong”, very rote type stuff.
It’s just a normative thing. Kids are brainwashed in the sense that we tell them stuff and basically expect them to take it. The more appropriate complaint for the scientology issue is “they are teaching people things we don;t agree with.”
On that ground, it wouldn’t strike me as anything odd. However, in this case, most people seem to have issue with scientology because they’re customs and such are secretive in nature, and therefore (as people usually do, think jews) we assume secretive = insidious. I mean, what are they teaching people? I don’t know.
Most of us who went to school were allowed to go home each day, and parents were sought to speak to teachers. Hardly estrangement, if you ask me.
