NIE Reaction Round-Up

Please excuse the quick pointer post, but I thought I’d mention that I’ve posted a fairly long National Intelligence Estimate round-up, along with some commentary, over at The Reaction. You might find it useful and/or interesting.

    I found it neither, thanks.

I’m starting a new drinking game, anyone want to play?

Here’s what you do. Read one of Mr. Stickings’ posts and every time you see the word “warmonger” or read any comparison to Iraq, take a drink. By the end of the post you’ll be on your way to the ER to get your stomach pumped.

LOL- I thought the post was about the NIE, not an attack on the Librul Stickings.

It’s much easier on your body and your pocketbook than if you take a drink every time you see something untrue or ill-mannered. Thanks for the specificity; it is merciful.

Does your objection to the post consiist of one word, warmongering? What would be the acceptable word for the aggressive rhetoric Bush has been using?

On the whole, the Right has usurped language more effectively and widely for political framing of messages than the Left. (death tax, pre-born, PC,
    BDS, and on and on).
I honestly don’t get why this one word, then, is worthy of so much sturm und drang.

    I’d really like to know.

    Doma,

I suggest you read the context it which it is used. It’s not used to describe specific instances of this or that rhetoric – it’s used as a descriptor and replacement noun for Bush and the administration. It appears Mr. Sticking’s simply randomly replaces “Bush,” “Cheney” or “The Administration” with “warmonger.” Frankly, that’s the kind of stupid, biased labeling that places like LGF use all the time. That’s bad enough, but it gets used over and over and over and over and over again. Ok, we get it already! How about a thesaurus for a little diversity and all that?

    Okay, thanks for explaining.

I agree with you and I don’t. Maybe I’m just becoming numb to certain things in the blogosphere, and i mentally skip over the embroidery to get to the meat.
When I absolutely can’t stand it, I just scroll past.

But not always. Some things get to me, too,
Where we differ is that, the way the Right twists language is what gets me most, or second most.
My number one gripe is the use of blatant insults (crazy, wacko, and so on), compared to which ‘warmonger’ seems almost mild

I appreciate that you react differently, however.
