Now every time a Republican Senator resigns unexpectedly, we will have to put up with unsubstantiated “gay” rumors. I was never a big fan of Lott, but he deserves better, after all of those years of public service.

I don’t want to publish anything not confirmed…. it’s all just rumors….rumors have veen flying for years about Lott…….it’s not me who’s putting this out….rumors… Lott…rumors….Lott….

Notice it’s not Lott that’s doing the flapping.

As to why he’s leaving now, aside from likely anticipating a Democratic White House for at least four years beginning in 2009 (less fun for Lott), the suspicion that he wants to become a lobbyist now before it becomes more difficult later is probably the best explanation.
