Dreadlocks are “Faddish”? Since When?

Should a three year old kid be suspended from school for wearing his hair in dreadlocks?

It seems to me that if you accept the basic idea of a code for hair styles, then anayzing each for its faddishness, religious or cultural symbolism, or mere decorative preference becomes extremely problematic. Maybe a Mohawk has meaning for some beyond just fad appeal.. What are limits for exemption, then?

IMO, there should either be a very clear code, perhaps making exceptions only for reasons of religious practces, or there should be no code at all.
Once you start individualizing the application of a code, you’ll end up with as many codes as there are students.

LOL – The same area where race stopped two football teams from playing – Delaware. I sometimes think more progress in race relations are happening in the South compared to the NE and Midwest. A choice dreadlocks or long dirty hair(smelly hippie).

Three year olds are being suspended for their hair? I repeat 3?

Dreads are not a fad..they’ve been around for decades. And I might add more appropriate for black hair than the prep school side part…
