		<description>I totally agree that history should be read for its own sake, in the same way we listen to music, read novels, see a play, or watch a movie. But even these things have their utility, giving us rest and insights into ourselves. It&#039;s no accident that in many colleges, the History department is associated with the College of Arts. And all arts, their detractors notwithstanding, are useful and practical.
